21-year-old dies after serious injuries in road accident

A 21-year-old man has died while being treated for injuries caused by an accident in Male'.

Mohamed Leevan Abdul Latheef died at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) last night.

The accident was reported on Wednesday night when a car collided with a motorcycle. Leevan was on the motorcycle.

He is the second young man to die in a road accident in four days. A 23-year-old man was killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a car in Hulhumale' on Thursday night.

Road accidents in the Greater Male' Region is on the rise with police investigations underway.

The government has now decided to take strict measures to reduce accidents, including taking over a racing area in Hulhumale'.
