The future and careers of athletes should not be affected due to an accident involving a sports car, the Racing Association has said.
In a post on X, the association said efforts have been made to hold everyone in the racing community accountable for any illegal activities and encourage them to drive responsibly.
"We are promoting motorsports in Maldives safely and legally," the Racing Association said.
The association said 307 racing athletes participate in controlled events that are conducted under strict guidelines.
The association expressed concern over President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's decision to take back the area allocated in Hulhumale' for racing and drifting.
The President made the decision as part of strict measures against reckless drivers. It followed the death of a 23-year-old man in an accident on Friday.
The government also decided to deduct points from the licenses of people who drive recklessly.
