Chief Judicial Administrator Aishath Rizna has resigned.
Adhadhu has obtained a copy of her resignation letter sent to the President of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Hussain Riza.
Rizna stated in the letter that her resignation was due to a lack of an environment in which she could work with the JSC within the legal framework, policies and procedures established to run the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA).
"I note that the Judicial Service Commission has not expressed a cooperative vision at the policy level regarding the administrative management of the judiciary and has so far not received any meaningful guidance or advice," Rizna said.
She added that the JSC's Judicial Administration Committee has not taken decisions on the key issues and the efforts made so far to resolve this have not yielded adequate results.
Rizna expressed concern as this has hampered the administrative functions of the judiciary.
She had previously served as the Registrar of the Civil Court and the Supreme Court. Before assuming the post of Chief Judicial Administrator, she was Assistant Representative of UNDP.
Rizna was appointed as the Chief Judicial Administrator on September 27, 2024.
