The Aviation Security Command has seized more than USD 80,000 hidden in a box of cornflakes.
The agency said a Bangladeshi national was arrested in connection with the case. The suspect was scheduled to fly from Velana International Airport (VIA) to Dhaka on US Bangla Airlines.
"The screening team of the Aviation Security Command seized USD 81,030 in cash hidden in the luggage," the agency said.
The law requires a declaration to Customs if taking more than USD 10,000 out of the Maldives.
