A group in Male' has kidnapped a person and cut off the victim's finger.
Three suspects were brought before the Criminal Court yesterday in connection with the case. They were a 23-year-old Maldivian man, a 21-year-old Maldivian man and an 18-year-old Maldivian man.
The three men were detained until the conclusion of their trials under separate orders issued by the Criminal Court.
The three men are accused by police of assault with a sharp object, striking a person and unlawful restraint.
According to the court order, one of the suspects worked in the same place as the victim.
Video screenshots from CCTV footage, photos of the victim's injuries and a police intelligence report were submitted to the court.
One finger of the victim was cut off, according to the court orders.
In their defence, the suspects told the court that the injury had been caused by an accident that occurred while the victim was using a power tool.
