Maldives Immigration has detained eight expatriates running "takeaway coffee shops" in Hulhumale'.
Immigration said they were arrested in a raid conducted by the "joint taskforce" in Hulhumale' phase one on Friday.
Immigration said they were investigating the case.
The authority is working with the police to identify and arrest undocumented workers doing business illegally.
Police arrested 50 undocumented workers and handed them over to the Immigration Department during an operation conducted last week.
Police said the operation was conducted in the local market, other markets in Male' and some other areas.
