A young man who rescued two children from being electrocuted by a street lamp in Raa Ungoofaaru has died.
Hussain Atheek died while undergoing treatment at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) this morning. He was being treated on a ventilator.
He suffered severe injuries during the electrocution, including broken ribs and kidney failure.
The electrocution incident occurred on May 23. The 8-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl were discharged from the Ungoofaaru hospital after receiving treatment.
However, the 18-year-old autistic youth, who was electrocuted while trying to rescue the children, was in serious condition and was transferred to Male' on May 25.
A resident of Ungoofaaru told Adhadhu that the children were electrocuted while playing in a puddle near the children's park.
