A young man who rescued two children from being electrocuted by a street lamp in Raa Ungoofaaru is being treated on a ventilator, the island council has said.
Ungoofaaru councilor Mohamed Muneez told Adhadhu that the 8-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl were discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.
However, the 18-year-old autistic youth, who was electrocuted while trying to rescue the children, is being treated in the ICU of the Ungoofaaru hospital.
Muneez said he is currently on a ventilator.
"Depending on what the doctor says, he may have to be taken to Male' for further treatment. We are waiting for the doctor," he added.
A resident of Ungoofaaru told Adhadhu that the children were electrocuted while playing in a puddle near the children's park.
