The Criminal Court on Wednesday acquitted Ibrahim Visham on charges raised over the fatal stabbing of Ibrahim Ageel at the number one jetty in Male' six years ago.
Visham, from Haa Alif Dhidhdhoo, was charged as an accomplice in Ageel's murder. The Criminal Court found him not guilty at a hearing held on Wednesday morning, both the court and the Prosecutor General's office confirmed.
The main suspects charged with murdering Ageel were Hamdhoon Hamzath from Laamu Fonadhoo and Ali Mijuwad from Seenu Hithadhoo. The court has yet to deliver the verdict after concluding hearings in their cases.
Ageel, an 18-year-old man from Gaaf Dhaal Faresmaathoda, was killed on August 31, 2018.
He was stabbed as he disembarked in Male' from a speedboat that arrived from Vaavu Felidhoo at the number one jetty. He was rushed to the ADK hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
