The Maldives government has called on the UN Security Council to reconsider the admission of Palestine as a full member state of the UN.
The UN General Assembly on Friday adopted the resolution "Admission of New Member States to the United Nations."
During the statement delivered at the tenth Emergency Special Session, the Maldives government noted that the overwhelming support for the Resolution sent a strong message to the Security Council.
The Maldives government called on UN member states to act with urgency to stop the ongoing suffering in Palestine and make Israel comply with its obligations under international law and international humanitarian law.
The tenth Emergency Special Session was resumed on May 10 upon the request of the Chairs of the Arab Group, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-aligned Movement.
