Rainfall during the next four months is likely to be above normal, the Maldives Meteorological Service has predicted.
The Met Office forecast above-normal seasonal rainfall for June, July, August and September over central and northern parts of the country. Below-normal rainfall is expected over the southern atolls.
From June to September, maximum and minimum temperatures are also likely to be above normal across the country, the Met Office said.

The Met Office forecast of high rainfall and temperature over the coming days followed recent spikes in the “feels like” temperature across the Maldives. The temperature usually hits an annual peak with warmer weather during the current period.
The Met Office previously advised precautionary measures to protect from the heat, including using umbrellas in the afternoon, applying sunscreen lotions, wearing sunglasses and staying hydrated.
