Intelligence reports leaked on President Muizzu's alleged corruption

Intelligence reports related to alleged corruption in money transfers to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s personal bank account were leaked last night.

The reports were leaked by the anonymous anti-government “Hassan Kurusee” account on X. The account leaked reports prepared by the Maldives Monetary Authority's (MMA) Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and police on money deposited to the President's account.

Adhadhu has verified the authenticity of the reports based on information gathered by the paper. This was the first time that an FIU report was leaked. The report had been compiled in 2018.

No official information has been provided so far about the reports or the leak.

The leaked FIU report listed 10 serious points related to President Muizzu as red flag indicators.

Red flag indicators

  • Involvement with a large number of Politically Exposed Persons (PEPS) and companies where PEPS hold controlling interest.
  • Embezzlement.
  • Layered and structured transaction patterns.
  • Use of corporate vehicles to disguise the origin of funds.
  • Misappropriation of information to the bank.
  • Frequent and unexplained cash withdrawals and cash deposits.
  • Payments received from a large number of companies that were provided with government projects
  • Involvement of considerably large amounts of physical cash.
  • Dubious Ultimate Beneficial Owners (of Dhimyaath Pvt Ltd).
  • Corruption and unexplained wealth.
