Homeland Minister Ali Ihusan has said that gangs destroy the security of the country and they must be stopped.
Speaking at a meeting in Iskandhar Koshi on Thursday night, Ihusan said gang crimes should be stopped to ensure the security and safety of Maldives.
Preventing gang crimes is one of the top three goals of the police, he said. The three main objectives of the police include solving the drug problem and stopping illegal immigrants, he added.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu attended the meeting and urged the police to provide services to the people with love. He also highlighted some of the plans to strengthen the police institution.
The President's meeting with the police was not broadcast publicly. The media was not invited to the meeting.
