Two foreigners have been arrested for allegedly distributing cards containing links to Christian propaganda at the Hiyaa flats in Hulhumale'.
Photos circulated on social media show two women near the mailboxes of the Hiyaa flats and the cards allegedly distributed by the pair.
The cards had a QR code with a link to the Dhivehi translation of the Bible and a QR code with a link to a movie with information on Christianity.
In a message shared with the media, police said the two women from Germany were arrested for distributing documents that violated the law on religious unity. They arrived in the Maldives on tourist visas.
Police said further investigations were underway.
