Maldives and Japan have signed an agreement on the provision of MVR 93 million in aid and a patrol vehicle to Maldives Customs.
Under the agreement, Japan will provide a patrol vehicle to Customs and provide USD 37,000 in assistance to get the equipment for its operation.
An agreement was also signed to provide USD 1.72 million for the Project for the Enhancement of AbilIty in Maritime Safety and Security in Maldives.
A further USD 3.97 million grant agreement was reached to enhance the capacity of the Disaster Management Authority.
Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and Japanese Ambassador Takeuchi Midori signed the four Exchange of Notes at a ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry today.
Zameer thanked Japan for its continuous support and underscored the significance of this collaboration in advancing the socio-economic development of the Maldives.
He also highlighted the important role played by Japan as one of the key development partners and reiterated Maldives’ commitment to further build upon the excellent diplomatic relations between Maldives and Japan.
