A Japanese ship has departed after anchoring in the Maldives following an operation against pirates in the Arabian Sea.
The Japanese embassy in Maldives said the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JSMF) vessel Akebono was in the Maldives from March 19 to 20.
The ship was involved in an operation against pirates in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden, the Japanese embassy said.
Commander Togawa, the Commanding Officer of the vessel, paid a courtesy call on Japanese Ambassador Takeuchi Midori on March 19.
The ship was added to the Japanese Navy on March 19, 2022. The ship is 151 meters long and can reach a speed of 56 kilometers per hour.
Japanese ships, involved in operations in the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea, occasionally dock in the Maldives.
