With the work underway to achieve the vision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, "scenes from Dubai will soon be seen" in the Maldives, Local Government Minister Adam Shareef has said.
Speaking in Veymandoo island on Tuesday night during the President's Thaa atoll tour, Adam Shareef said a firm vision expected by the people has never before been presented.
“In his vision, based on the information we are getting from his various meetings today, I would say that we will soon start seeing scenes from Dubai in different parts of our country,” Adam Shareef claimed.
The vision will become true in the Male' region and other areas and the Maldives will soon be seen as a Dubai due to the success of the government's infrastructure plans. he added.
The government's flagship project is the Rasmale' artificial city. Reclamation of the Fushidhiggaru lagoon is now underway to build the new city. President Muizzu announced that Rasmale' and Male' will be connected through an underwater tunnel.
Muizzu faced criticism for announcing the underwater tunnel. On Tuesday night, Adam Shareef addressed the criticism as well.
“We are confident that the President has announced that, based on his engineering experience and experiences from overseas, it can certainly be achieved. We can envision that,” he said.
