Vice Minister of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party Sun Haiyan paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu this morning.
According to the President's Office, the meeting focused on exploring ways to implement agreements signed during the President's state visit to China.
Sun stated that all relevant authorities are eager to collaborate with their Maldivian counterparts under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.
She expressed interest in strengthening strategic bilateral relations and offering training possibilities for Maldivians in various fields.
President Muizzu expressed his gratitude to China for the training opportunities and other avenues of support for Maldivians.
He also conveyed his eagerness to implement the agreements signed between the two countries.
The President and Vice Minister additionally reviewed the recent success of direct flights between the Maldives and China and the possibility of extending direct flights from several Chinese cities to the Maldives.
Sun is visiting the Maldives on an official visit from 21 to 23 January at the invitation of Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer.
She is expected to pay courtesy calls on Parliament Speaker Mohamed Aslam and Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer.
According to the Foreign Ministry, she will also attend a donation ceremony on January 22 hosted by the Alif Dhaal Mahibadhoo Council.
Her visit follows a state visit to China by President Muizzu and a high-level government delegation earlier this month.
