President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with the Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command, Admiral John Aquilino, this morning.
During the meeting, Commander Admiral John Aquilino congratulated the President on his assumption of office.
President Muizzu expressed his appreciation for the United States in aiding the Maldives in capacity building by providing training opportunities for Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) personnel.
According to the President's Office, Commander Admiral John Aquilino highlighted the longstanding relationship between the Maldives and the United States.
He reiterated his commitment to full assistance in strengthening capacity building in the defence force and affirmed the US support for the Maldives in maintaining peace and security while preserving sovereignty.
He further expressed interest in exploring new areas of cooperation, the President's Office stated.
