Expenses incurred during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's official trips are to be disclosed within a maximum of 15 days.

The President decided that travel expenses must be disclosed 15 days after the end of official visits, the President's Office said.

The decision comes with the President currently in Dubai to attend the COP-28 environmental summit underway in the UAE.

After assuming office on November 17, the President first visited Türkiye on November 26.

During the trip, President Muizzu and Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed strengthening ties and cooperation between the countries in several sectors, including tourism, trade and investment as well as combating terrorism.

After concluding the visit to Turkey, Muizzu traveled to Dubai on November 30.

The now-ruling Progressive Party of Maldives-People's National Congress (PPM-PNC) coalition criticized the previous government over the failure to publicly disclose expenses on official trips.
