Inguraidhoo MP Hassan Ahmed (Hassante) has urged MPs to submit a petition calling for an end to Israeli atrocities.

During debate on a resolution condemning Israel's genocide and attacks against Palestine and calling for an end to Israel's aggression, MP Hassan called for all MPs to sign the petition.

Human rights are not talked about anywhere in the world today, Hassante noted.

The world does not recognize violence against Muslims and calls it the use of human shields, he said.

Two legislative tasks against Israel are currently before Parliament.

A resolution submitted by Villingili MP Saud Hussain was debated today. Nolhivaram MP Mohamed Nasheed Abdulla (Mosta) has also submitted a bill to ban Israeli passports and Israeli tourists.

The resolution debated today calls to bar the entry of Israeli citizens to the Maldives, ban the import of all Israeli products and all items exported by the country, and suspend any ties between the Maldives and Israel.

Saud's resolution calls for keeping the measures in place until Israel leaves all occupied Palestinian territory and peace is established in the Middle East.

During the debate on the resolution, Vaikaradhoo MP Hussain Ziyad said debating the matter serves no purpose and called for meaningful action.

"We've released statements condemning it. Even in recent history, we've spent 75 years debating it. We have debated enough! The action we can take immediately is to bar Israeli citizens at the very least," he said.

Since it began on October 7, the Israeli aggression in Gaza has martyred more than 12,000 Palestinians to date, including 5,000 children.
