IAC only Asian group authorized to deliver aid to Gaza

The International Aid Campaign (IAC) has become the only group in Asia authorized to deliver humanitarian aid through the Rafah border to the people of Gaza suffering due to war in Palestine.

Aside from the UN and the Red Crescent, the first groups authorized to deliver aid to Gaza were IAC, UK's Al Ghair, America's Life and Turkey's IDDEF coalition.

Azhad Ahmed, IAC's director of media and public relations, said on Friday that the NGO was preparing an aid convoy upon receiving authorization. It was expected to enter Gaza over the past weekend.

"That includes the USD 100,000 donated by Maldivians, medicines needed by hospitals, food, wheelchairs as well as stretchers and special items for women in addition to items for essential needs," said Azhad, who was in Egypt to prepare the aid convoy.

IAC's aid convoy to Gaza includes donations from all the associations in the coalition.

In addition to the aid convoy, IAC was also trying to donate ambulances to Gaza, Azhad said.

"We're working to donate ambulances as well. We got permission to deliver one thing at a time. We will keep delivering aid as we get permission," he said.

IAC has provided aid to the people of Gaza in the past as well, including with the purchase of oil from various regions of Palestine through donations from Maldivians.

IAC also donated toys to hospitalized children.

IAC's fund for volunteers and the people of Gaza remain open for donations.

Donations to the Gaza Fund can be sent to the IAC's Bank of Maldives Islamic account 7770000062741. The name of the account is International Aid Campaign.

IAC was established in 2016 for the purpose of providing aid to Muslims suffering hardship throughout the world. The group has since carried out several fundraising activities and campaigns to help Muslims.
