The Civil Court on Tuesday ordered the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) to settle an outstanding payment of USD 32,426 owed to Beehive Hotels.

FAM conceded the main claims of the lawsuit and the agreement signed between the parties show that the money was owed, the Civil Court ruled.

Citing its poor finances, FAM asked the court to allow it to make the payment over a one-year period.

The Civil Court accepted the plea and ordered the payment to be made within a year.

Several cases of non-payment by the FAM have also emerged.

Adhadhu has learned that 18 lawsuits were filed at the Civil Court against the FAM from 2021 to last September.

Companies and institutions that have sued FAM include ADK Hospital, ADK Trading, Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), Apollo Holdings, Maldives Pension Administration, Elle Maldives, Public Service Media (PSM), Veligaa Hardware and MS Finance Currency Exchange.
