The campaign for the second round of the presidential election concluded at 6:00 pm Friday with the two sides staging marches in the capital Male'.
The ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the opposition Progressive Party of Maldives-People's National Congress (PPM-PNC) coalition ended the marches with speeches from their candidates.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih from the MDP called on voters to choose stability and elect him for a second term.
Opposition candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu promised to deliver his promises and rule faithfully.
Several smaller campaign events held in the atolls also concluded on Friday evening. The law bans campaigning after 6:00 pm.
According to the EC, 282,803 people are eligible to vote. These include 403 first-time voters. Voting will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday and will close at 5:00 pm.
