A young man who was gravely injured in an accident on the Kudagiri water slide died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment.
Umar Abdul Hannaan, 34, from the Henveiru Portside house in Male', sustained the injury last Thursday.
An official from Urbanco, which manages Kudagiri, told Adhadhu that the accident occurred as he slid head-first at high speed down the water slide and struck his head on the shallow lagoon floor.
"As soon as the incident occurred, he was immediately taken to hospital in Male'," the official said.
Adhadhu has learned that the man sustained serious neck injuries.
He went to Kudagiri with his family for a picnic and the accident happened while he was with family members.
Funeral prayers for Umar took place at the Hulhumale' cemetery on Wednesday night.
