The Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) has decided to resume half of salary payment for staff in US dollars.

MACL paid 50 percent of an employee's wages in dollars before the Covid-19 pandemic. The company decided to resume the practice after it was stopped due to the pandemic.

An MACL official told Adhadhu that the company's management made the decision on Wednesday. All employees will be paid half of their salary in dollars with effect in September, the official said.

MACL as the operator of Velana International Airport, the country's main airport, is one of the largest employers in the Maldives. The company employs more than 3,500 staff and assures prioritization of the welfare and benefits of employees.

MACL has provided the largest annual bonus for staff with MVR 25,000 over the past two years.
