Voting was suspended in Alif Alif Rasdhoo following a confrontation involving members of the opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
An election observer in the island said the incident occurred after several observers from PPM were allegedly denied official passes to be in the polling stations.
The observer said voting was temporarily suspended but has now resumed after PPM observers and members were removed from the polling station.
PPM supporters gathered near the Elections Commission (EC) focal point in the island and police are active near the polling station.
