The Ministry of Islamic Affairs is investigating cases of people being taken to Umrah without permission from authorities.
Islamic Ministry said in a statement that some companies have been taking people to Umrah without authorization. The statement noted that it is prohibited to take anyone to Umrah without permission from authorities.
The ministry said the permit is issued for two consecutive years and that it is prohibited to take advance money from anyone in a manner that goes beyond the two-year period.
“Therefore, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs urges not to take people for Umrah commercially without the required permission and urges not to pay money to a company that is not authorized to take people for Umrah," the statement read.
The ministry will not be responsible for any damage caused by violation of the rule, it added.
The list of companies licensed to take people for Umrah has been posted on the website of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
