State Minister for Housing Akram Kamaludeen, chair of the housing scheme committee, has assured that problems in the provisional list will be corrected in the permanent list.
In response to a question about a recently naturalized citizen who was listed as eligible for a land plot, Akram told Adhadhu that a provisional list would always have problems and that identifying such issues was the purpose of publishing a provisional list and inviting complaints.
"That is the purpose of making a provisional list public, to identify such matters after opening for complaints. Plots could have been awarded to husband and wife as well. It will be corrected in the permanent list," he said.
Some 3068 complaints had been submitted after the list of Hiya flat recipients was published. The permanent list was published after the complaints were evaluated.
The provisional list of recipients of land plots under a scheme introduced to resolve the housing crisis in Male' was published last Monday.
Complaints about the list can be submitted until July 15. The permanent list will be published after looking into the complaints.
Akram said problems have been identified and efforts were underway to correct them.
“Not only that issue but there are also other issues that have been identified and we are working to correct them," Akram said, referring to rumors about an Indian man being awarded a plot.
When the government announced the awarding of plots from the Male' region last year, an applicant was to be confirmed as a Male' resident by checking if he or she had ever been registered on any other island.
The inclusion of Habib Rahiman Mohamed Hanifa as eligible for a land plot and other such problems will be resolved when the permanent list is announced, Akram said.
