Bengaluru (June 26) - Maldives national team head coach Francesco Moriero refused to answer questions from the local media and walked out of the post-match press conference after his team's defeat to Bangladesh today.
Maldives hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the SAFF Championship hangs in the balance as Bangladesh came from behind to beat them 3-1. This was the first time Maldives lost to Bangladesh in the SAFF Championship since 2003.
Moriero came to the post press conference visibly frustrated and gave a short statement before walking out of the press conference.
"For me no good match. For me 25 minutes good. National team pass good. After no good. I am sorry all people Maldives. Thank you very much," the 54-year-old Italian said before the media was properly ready for the press conference.
After Moriero left the press conference, team manager Abdulla Shibaa talked to the media regarding the game. Asked whether any action will be taken against the coach for walking out of the press conference Shiba said that "it will be dealt with accordingly."
Previously Moriero refused to speak to the local media before Maldives departed to the training camp in Japan to prepare for the SAFF Championship.
