Ivan leaves Maziya by mutual consent

Bulgarian coach, Ivan Venkov Kolev leaves Maldives league champions, Maziya Sports & Recreation by mutual consent after the team's recent downfall in form.

Ivan, 65, initially signed a contract until the end of the season, but after recent performances, Maziya decided to part ways. During his time, Maziya won the FA Charity Shield & Presidents Cup.

Ivan took Maziya to a total of eight games and won seven. Maziya only lost to Buru Sports Club under the reign of Ivan.

"The Chairman and the board would like to thank Coach Kolev for his service. Kolev showed immense professionalism and dedication to this club, which will always be appreciated." Maziya S & R stated.

This is the third consecutive season Maziya changed coaches at the beginning of the season.

Last season, Maziya started with Maldivian coach, Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan). He was replaced after the Presidents Cup defeat against Club Valencia. Maziya decided to part ways with Mohan and he was replaced by Serbian tactician Miodrag Jesic.

Maziya is already working to name a new head coach.

The Maldives football season will resume after the SAFF Championship 2023.
