Two Hiya flat tenants who merged their apartments have been granted a seven-day period to rebuild a wall that was torn down.
Urbanco said in a message sent to the media on Thursday that the owners requested an extension and an additional seven days were approved after considering their reasons.
Urbanco previously ordered the eviction of the flats after the tenants refused to rebuild the wall and pay a fine. The flat owners sought a stay order from the civil court to halt the eviction.
Each Hiya apartment has two rooms. After the adjoining wall was torn down, the two apartments were joined to form a four-bedroom apartment. Urbanco fined the owners MVR 100,000 each and ordered payment within five days.
The owners were also instructed to revert to the old structure. Urbanco warned that further action would be taken if they refused to comply.
