Solih meets scholars’ council of Adhaalath Party

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met the scholars’ council of Adhaalath Party (AP).

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Wednesday met the scholars’ council of the government-aligned Adhaalath Party (AP).

AP is a member of the ruling coalition and has decided to back Solih for re-election in the September 9 presidential polls.

AP said the scholars’ council met Solih to bring some matters to the president’s attention since they have backed him for re-election.

However, details were not revealed.

President’s Office spokesman Miuvan Mohamed said during the meeting which took place at the President’s Office, the scholars’ council assured the president of their commitment to his government.

They also expressed support for government policies, he added.

AP and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) have announced support for Solih in the September 9 polls.
