Police announced on Wednesday that they confiscated 45 kg drugs in a week-long operation near Faafu Filitheyo resort.
A fishing boat discovered drugs hidden underwater near the resort last Thursday. Police launched an operation that same day.
They told local media that the operation concluded after seven days and they were able to confiscate 45 kg of heroin.
No suspects have yet been arrested in connection to the case.
According to official figures, around 80 percent of inmates in Maldivian prisons have been convicted of using drugs. Most of them are heroin addicts.
Police confiscated 1.6 tons of drugs and arrested over 11,000 people over drug cases in the past four years. There are more than 700 foreigners among the detainees.
