Shammoon, a former HRCM Secretary-General, received unanimous parliamentary approval for the role. The HRCM is investigating claims by the MDP that the rights of Hirimaradhoo residents were violated after the island was declared uninhabited. The complaint alleges that dissolving the local council breached decentralization laws and disrupted basic services. The government plans to relocate the population to Hanimaadhoo.
