A person has threatened to kill Adhadhu CEO Hussain Fiyaz Moosa and journalist Mohamed Shahuzan after a documentary on President Mohamed Muizzu's alleged extramarital affair with an employee.

In a comment on the Adhadhu website, the person used profanities and warned that Fiyaz and Shahuzan must not go out on the street if they want to live.

Shahuzan is the Vice President of the Maldives Journalists Association (MJA), while Fiyaz is a respected journalist with decades of experience.

In order to protect the privacy of its readers, Adhadhu does not maintain the information of those who comment on the website.

Both Fiyaz and Shahuzan said they will file a police complaint over the death threat and expressed concern over repeated threats.

“I call on the relevant authorities to investigate this case and create an environment where journalists can work safely,” Fiyaz said.

There have been numerous threats since Adhadhu began publishing five years ago on April 4, 2021.
