Four bicycles were towed by police in Fuvahmulah yesterday (March 18) for allegedly violating the road traffic laws.

Police said the bikes seized included one with illegal modifications and three that posed a road safety hazard.

“These vehicles were seized for driving on the pavement, zigzagging dangerously, as well as carrying two people on the bikes,” police said.

Police said these measures were taken within the legal framework to ensure the safety of all road users.

However, the towing of the bikes has drawn criticism on social media.
