A police complaint has been filed after campaign posters of the independent mayoral candidate Ismail Zariyand were stolen from various parts Hulhumale'.

In a post on social media X, Zariyand said he lodged a complaint with the police about the removal of some of his campaign posters by people in Housing Development Corporation (HDC) uniforms and the theft of posters on private land belonging to his supporters.

Posters and banners of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC) candidates have been put up in Hulhumale', but posters of all other candidates, including Zariyand and the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), are being removed.

One video shows HDC employees removing banners of Mayor Adam Azim, who is seeking re-election.
