The second largest city in the country, Addu, is facing power cuts again this fasting month of Ramadan.

Fenaka Corporation said a power cut occurred in Addu yesterday (February 20) due to an engine problem.

"The power house has gone down due to an engine problem. Power service has been interrupted in the connected islands of Addu," Fenaka said.

Fenaka later resolved the problem and the power house was made operational.

There were several power outages in Addu in Ramadan last year.

The government promised to bring a permanent solution to the electricity problem in Addu, but has failed to address the issue.

In addition, water service interruptions are also frequent in the city. The government announced a project to solve the problem, but the work has not started yet.
