President Mohamed Muizzu is in Bangladesh to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new government.

Muizzu is attending the ceremony at the invitation of the Bangladesh Government Chief Advisor, Muhammad Yunus. The ceremony will take place this morning.

The President’s Office said Muizzu would return home on Wednesday. He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Muizzu congratulated Tarique's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on its victory and said he hoped the two countries could work together more.

The Maldives and Bangladesh established diplomatic relations in 1978, about seven years after the country's inception.
