The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has urged caution for the next five days due to poor air quality.
According to the Met Office, haze is affecting the north and central parts of the country, with visibility limited to three kilometres today.
"With the northeast winds, the effect of haze is expected to remain over the Maldives for the next five days. Therefore, those engaged in various activities outside and those traveling by sea are requested to pay special attention," said the Met Office.
The air quality index is currently above 105, which is dangerous to sensitive groups. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has also issued a warning.
The HPA previously advised people with lung diseases, heart disease or allergies, children and the elderly not to spend too much time outdoors.
