A special clinic for epilepsy has been opened at ADK Hospital.

Consultant in Internal Medicine and Neurologist, Dr Nasheeda Saeed, and a mental health doctor and nurses will work at the clinic.

The clinic will be open for two hours one day a week at the time of the inauguration. The service days will be extended as the response increases.

Dr Nasheeda Saeed told Adhadhu that the clinic will provide holistic treatment to people with epilepsy.

"We are starting this clinic with the help of a lot of people. We are starting with one day every week for two hours. Then we will hopefully increase service hours with the number of people registering. Anyone suffering from epilepsy can register in this clinic," she said.

A video EEG will be used to examine brain signals, and treatment will be conducted through the clinic, Nasheeda said.

She said the test will determine whether the patient needs surgery or the best type of treatment for the patient.

More information about the epilepsy clinic can be obtained by calling 1414.
