A fire on a fishing boat carrying 15 people caused some injuries on Saturday (February 14).

The boat was near Kurumba Maldives Resort. Police said some of the injured people were evacuated to Male' in a vessel from the resort.

Police did not disclose the number of people injured in the incident.

Videos circulating on social media showed the fire had engulfed a big part of the boat.

The fire was extinguished by the Hulhumale' Fire Station and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Male' Area Command.
