The monthly tourist arrival record set in December has been renewed in January with 333 more tourists.

According to the statistics released by the Tourism Ministry, 224,788 tourists visited the country in the first month of this year.

Last month, most tourists came from Russia, followed by Italy, China and the UK. More than 20,000 tourists visited from all four countries.

More than 200,000 tourists visited the country each month during the peak season from December 2024 to March 2025.

Records show that the first time 200,000 tourists arrived in a single month was in February 2024.

The government estimates 2.4 million tourists will visit the Maldives this year, compared to the 2.2 million visitors in 2025.
