The Prosecutor General's (PG) Office has pressed charges against a teacher for allegedly sexually assaulting his students.

Shueib Abdulla was a Health and Physical Education (PE) teacher at Meemu Atoll School in Kolhufushi island.

The PG Office said he was charged with five counts of sexually assaulting students. The case is registered in the Kolhufushi Magistrate Court.

Shueib is accused of touching two students with sexual intent and showing them pornographic content.

He faces a minimum sentence of 60 years, one month and six days in prison.
