Maziya Clinch FAM Women’s League Title with Invincible Run

Male' Maldives: Maziya Sports & Recreation secured the championship title of the inaugural FAM Women’s Football League 2025 after a decisive 2–0 victory over Odi Sports Club in the final match of the competition.

The league marked a significant milestone for women’s football in the Maldives, being the first women’s football competition conducted by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) since 2014. The tournament was successfully organised with support from FIFA and represented an important step forward in the development and revival of the women’s game in the country.

In the title-deciding encounter, Maziya sealed victory through goals from Nepalese internationals Rekha Poudel and Dipa Sahi. Rekha had the opportunity to extend the lead further but missed a penalty in the second half. Despite the miss, Maziya remained in control and comfortably saw out the match to claim the historic title.

Maziya concluded the league unbeaten, finishing top of the standings with 13 points from five matches. Odi Sports Club finished as runners-up with 10 points. Victory Sports Club claimed third place, while New Radiant Sports Club finished fourth, both teams ending the season with eight points. TC Sports Club secured fifth place with three points, while Biss Buru Sports Club finished at the bottom of the table after suffering defeats in all five of their matches.

The tournament also recognised outstanding individual performances throughout the season. Rustullaeva Leyla Rameshovna of Victory Sports Club finished as the league’s top goal scorer with nine goals. Her teammate Aishath Shaha Shareef was named the Most Promising Player of the tournament.

Odi Sports Club’s Fathimath Saaliya was awarded Best Maldivian Player, while Maziya’s Rekha Poudel received the Best Foreign Player award. Biss Buru Sports Club was recognised as the Fair Play Team of the league.

The Women’s League 2025 Dream XI featured standout players from across the competition: Rustullaeva Leyla Rameshovna (Victory Sports Club), Shahfa Shiuth (Maziya Sports & Recreation), Fathimath Saaliya (Odi Sports Club), Safina Rushaniya (Victory Sports Club), Dipa Sahi (Maziya Sports & Recreation), Nastasia Suci Ramadhani (Odi Sports Club), Maeesha Abdul Hannan (New Radiant Sports Club), Aishath Leeza (Maziya Sports & Recreation), Inasha Adam (Odi Sports Club), Rekha Poudel (Maziya Sports & Recreation), and Firushana Naseer (Odi Sports Club).

With strong competition, emerging talent, and institutional backing, the inaugural FAM Women’s Football League 2025 has laid a promising foundation for the future of women’s football in the Maldives.
