The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Research Conference kicked off today with 240 participants.

The conference is being held at Villa Nautica Paradise Island Resort today and tomorrow. The number of participants has doubled from last year's conference.

MMA's new economic and financial magazine, The Island Economist, was launched during the conference. The magazine was launched by the Chief Guest of the conference, Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu.

The MMA's research journal, the Maldives Journal of Economics and Finance, was also launched. The journal was launched by Professor and Associate Dean of INSEIF University in Malaysia. Dr. Aishath Muneeza.

The finalists of the Tamweel FinLit Festival 2025 were awarded cash prizes at the conference.

According to the MMA, 140 participants attended the festival program. Most of them were school students. The program aims to increase the financial awareness and economic participation of youth.
