A Maldivian student, who was due to return to the country after completing his medical degree, has been found dead in the Philippines.
The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Mohamed Humaid Ahmed from Noonu Holhudhoo island.
Adhadhu understands that Humaid had booked a ticket to return to the Maldives on Friday. Relatives checked Humaid's residence after he missed the flight.
"His family members even went to the airport to welcome him. They later checked and found out he was dead," a source said.
Philippine police are investigating his death. The cause of his death remains unclear and Maldivian authorities have not commented.
Humaid last visited the Maldives during the COVID-19 pandemic since he left the country to complete his medical degree in the Philippines.
