Mezzo Mohamed Majid has been conferred the National Award of Honor in the field of performing arts.
The award was presented at the official ceremony held in Haa Alif Utheemu to celebrate this year’s National Day.

Mezza Mohamed passed away on February 12 at the age of 60.
Mezzo Mohamed also known as Cream Mohamed entered the music industry in 1977 at the age of 11 and is a legendary singer well-known for some of the most iconic songs in the Maldives.
He began his music career with Club Cobras and became more popular with the formation of his own band Mezzo.
Some of his most famous songs include "Kamana Goathi Aadhanu Thaa", "Jismu Nethigen Gos Hafus" and "Udun Tharithah".
The Mezzo band has performed across the Maldives and around the world and is well-known for creating original music.
The band represented Maldives at the ITB Berlin Tourism Fair, BIT Milan Tourism Fair, South Africa, Seychelles and India.
Their video song "Visna Visna" was also the first Maldivian song to be shown on the international music channel MTV.
In 2010, Mezzo Mohamed was awarded the National Award for Honour in the field of music.
His daughter Mira is also a talented singer. Mezzo Mohamed last performed on TVM's "Ehandhaanuga" show last year.
