Male' Maldives: New Radiant Sports Club is set to appoint veteran coach Ali Suzain as the club’s new head coach.
According to sources close to "Adhadhu Sports", Suzain has accepted the club leadership’s proposal to lead the Blues. Speaking to "Adhadhu Sports", Suzain confirmed the development, noting that while he has not yet signed the contract, all terms have been agreed.
Suzain, who began his coaching career with Victory Sports Club two decades ago, has long viewed New Radiant as his fiercest rival due to his upbringing at Victory.
In 2018, while coaching Club Green Streets, Suzain revealed in a press conference that he had turned down two offers from New Radiant, explaining that competing against the club always fueled his motivation.
This time, however, the story has taken a different turn. New Radiant chairman Ahmed Mubeen described the prospect of seeing Suzain lead the club as “a dream come true” in a recent social media post.
Over his career, Former National Football team coach, Suzain has coached several top-tier Maldivian sides, including Victory, Green Streets, Maziya Sports and Recreation, and Thinadhoo Football Team.
New Radiant, one of the most successful clubs in Maldivian football history, is eyeing a return to the top division.
According to FAM’s schedule, the second division tournament will begin on 28 March 2026. While New Radiant is expected to compete, speculation has grown over the possibility of a direct slot in the Premier League.
Currently, FAM has approved 10 teams for the next Premier League season. With Super United Sports (SUS) uncertain to participate, New Radiant could gain automatic promotion. Two clubs, Club Eagles and Victory SC, have already been confirmed, while the third spot will be decided between Tent SC and New Radiant—unless Tent withdraws, which would clear the path for New Radiant’s return to the top flight.
